Granville Penn was the grandson of William Penn (the founder of Pennsylvania, USA). He was the youngest son of Thomas and Juliana Penn. In 1791 he married Isabella Forbes. When his older brother, John died in 1834, he inherited Stoke Park. Granville was active in the Odiham Agricultural Society with a drive in the setting up a vet school in London. The vets school was the first in England and is now known as the Royal College of Veterinary, part of the University of London. He wrote much on theological issues and an authoriative work about his ancestors. In 1844 he bought Stoke Court in Stoke Poges and died.
