Isabella Penn

Isabella Granville Penn Stoke Park Stoke Poges - Funeral Hatchment St Giles' church StokePoges

Isabella Penn was the eldest daughter of General Gordon Forbes, Colonel of the 29th Regiment of Foot. In 1791 she married Granville Penn of Stoke Park, Stoke Poges. She had nine children. The eldest son died in infancy so the second son Granville John Penn inherited but did not marry. She died in 1844.

Motto: : In coelo quies – In heaven there is rest

Heraldry: All black background. On a lozenge surmounted by a cherub’s head.  Argent on a fess sable three roundels argent on a canton of Augmentation gules the crown of Charles II proper (Penn), impaling, Azure three bears’ heads couped argent muzzled sable (Forbes)
