Georgiana was born in 1781, the only daughter of General Richard Vyse of Lichfield and Anne Howard of Stoke Place, Stoke Poges. Anne’s father was Field Marshal Sir George Howard who had bought Stoke Place. Her mother died when she was only three years old and that was a week after Georgiana’s only brother, Richard was born. She never married.
The Lord Effingham’s Howard family vault was opened in 1990 after the Gas Board hit brickwork in the churchyard at St Nicolas church, Great Bookham. Her coffin was found to be next to her brother.
